Improving Patient Recruitment for Early Phase Clinical Trials

Effective patient recruitment and retention practices enables on-time study starts and allows for better data generation. A recent whitepaper published by ISR Reports found that 72% of patient recruitment is driven by the identification of target patient populations through physician/patient networks.

In evaluating best practices, Algorithme Pharma conducted a case study analysis comparing results from an active Investigator (responsible for screening and trial conduct), to recruitment only driven with patient referrals from a physician. The results were recently presented at the DIA conference in San Diego and demonstrated that the use of active Investigators in early stage trials led to fewer timeline delays and better study data as retention rates were significantly improved.
